Egypt :
- Came into existence at the same time as Sumer (3100 BC)
- History of Egypt can be broken down into three parts : Old Egypt (Early Bronze) in which it was isolated, Middle and New Egypt (Late Bronze) where it became a part of the Roman Province.
- It’s located at the Nile river which was very unpredictable and used to flood or drought any time.
- Egypt was divided into Lower Egypt (Subsaharan Egypt) and Upper Egypt (White Egypt)
- Their King was known as Menes.
- It was very prosperous state as the people their were adaptable to the changes in the Nile river and could predict flooding. They exploited mines for gold reserves and participated in trading.
- Egypt actually gave rise to archaeology when Napoleon decided to go on an expedition to Egypt in he late 1700s with a group of archaeologists, historians, artists, poets etc. to document his journey.
- Egypt had the first ever battle which was recorded – The battle between Egypt and Hittites known as the battle of Kadesh. This was extremely violent and resulted in the first ever peace treaty made in the world.
