Week 2 : Electives

The class started 10min late but extended for half an hour more. Well today’s class was really very interesting.

We discussed how Strategic design management is used in different business. The discussion started with discussing about the first Indian online website which was India Plaza. We also talked about organized and unorganised sector, according to me organised business have a clear goals, better plan and proper implementation of these plans whereas unorganised business lacks in this quality.

Today the faculty brought up three categories of business which are food, shelter and clothing. The category for today was shelter.

Pepperfry

Pepperfry is a online company which initially started with selling of furniture and now is dealing in other house related products.

The faculty asked us how many times did the co. change it’s logo? Well the answer is fours. The company went through a lot of changes especially in terms of its branding.

This was the first ever logo of the company, but it lacked in various things like functionality, the message the wanted to convey, etc.

Brand logo is the first thing that cathes the eyes of a consumer, hence it should be more meaningful and catchy,

They progressed in the logo in terms of conveying what the company deals in, the font style making it very edgey.

The company has changed it’s logo 4 times and has progressed a lot over a period.

The best part about pepperfry that I felt was that it gives Employment to Indian craftsmen, a company which thinks about social contribution eg: Upliftment of weaker section of the society, it adds on to it goodwill.

The class was informative and really interactive one.
