Week 1 : Imaging

Faculty – Jigna Gada

Date – 07/01/2020

In today’s class, we finally got down to working on Indesign. In the first part of the class, we talked about the basic differences in the three software (Illustrator, Indesign, and Photoshop). We discussed how different applications are suitable for different purposes. We talked about the difference between manipulating vector images and raster images. In essence when one has to scale and manipulate the size of an image its best to use InDesign and illustrator as it uses vector graphics whereas on photoshop we work with raster images which are not scalable. It’s important to understand these differences while dealing with images as it affects the overall quality of the final work.

Next, we opened InDesign and our professor explained the basic tools and how to use them. We learned about the content collector tool where we would store our images in case we want to use it on another page. hen we right click on an image an option called fitting appears amongst others. That feature allows us to fit the image in the grid box according to our likes. It also has a feature of editing an image through photoshop linked to InDesign.
